Several years ago, Russ was looking for something a little different to present to a colleague who
was about to leave the service of the Royal Australian Navy. Several people had commented on the
detail that was incorporated into each weapon onboard the large 1:72nd scale models. From that, the
idea was born to place one of these intricate weapons onto a polished timber base along with a flute
for a pen to be placed.
Since that initial Desk Set was produced some 60 have now been made and purchased by various people,
companies and associations around the world with over a dozen different weapon systems, from WW2 gun
turrets up to the modern Mk 13 Guided Missile Launcher. The timber bases are hand-made and lacquered
and each desk set, being hand-made, is always slightly different from the one before.
Several new additions have been made to the range of Executive Desk Sets in recent weeks. Now available is the COLLINS Class
Submarine Fin and shortly the OBERON Class Submarine will also be available. These are in addition to the already available
LOS ANGELES Class Submarine Sail. These feature either the earlier Flight 1 and Flight 2 LA Class with the distinctive Dive
Planes on the sides of the Sail or the later Flight 3 LA. All the Submarine desk sets can be produced with just a periscope raised
on the look out for enemy ships, several masts raised or the full range of scopes and masts raised. They are displayed on a
polished Australian native timber base with gold pen flute and pen with the Sail cutting a fine wake as it dives into your
desktop. Please see the photos below.
Also now available are Double Sets. This includes a slightly longer polished base with a brass pen
flute in the centre with your choice of weapons on either end. A combination such as the DDGs Mk 13 Missile
Launcher on one end and the Mk42 gun Mount on the other.
If you would like to order one of these fine items as a gift or presentation piece, or for your own pleasure, go to our
online shop.

As an alternative to a pen holder, you could have a clock and/or a pen tray with your favourite
piece. Below is a sample desk set (with just clocks, however, you could replace the pen holder, or
include the clock as well, on any desk set. Simply ask when you contact us.)
