HMAS HAWKESBURY

In 1998, DMG was asked to build a model of the World War Two “River” Class Frigate, HMAS HAWKESBURY (K-363). She was one of a series of “River” Class Frigates built in Australian Shipyards, but based on a British design, which was also adopted by other Wartime Navies. The model was commissioned by the Department of Defence, Public Affairs Office, Sydney.

The model was built to a scale of 1:72, using a hull and fittings produced by APS Models and superstructure and fittings of Evergreen Plastic. She was completed in her striking livery of dark grey hull, light grey superstructure and upper works and British green decks.

The model was displayed on keel blocks and encased in a one piece Perspex display case. She is displayed in the Public Affairs Office, at Garden Island Sydney.
