Following the construction of the model of the Upgraded M113 for MTU Diesels Australia,
TENIX Land Division requested some additional model be constructed for them. Eighteen models have
now been constructed for TENIX, the newest being the most up to date with additional changes
carried out to the armour plating, turret and front of the vehicle.
The new models are constructed using the TAMIYA M113A2 Desert version (kit#35265). This kit comes with
some of the modified parts needed to construct the M113AS4. Two kits are required so that they can be cut
in two and “overlapped” to make the body one road wheel length longer. Several new parts have been made
and cast for these models. These include the new turret and armour plating along the sides and front of
the vehicle. Other minor details include cable cutters, new head lights and guards, stores racks on top
of the body and new brake lights and indicators. The models were then painted in the Australian Army
camouflage colours of dark tan, olive green and black in a pattern taken from photos supplied by TENIX.
